Somebody once said to me that writing a book is like giving birth, and while I am not sure about that, I will say it has been a long and wonderful process. And as of tomorrow, The Food Allergy Mama’s Baking Book will finally be available everywhere. I saw a copy of the book for the first time today, and it brought back so many memories of the last year; the baking, the taste testing, the mess in my kitchen on a daily basis, the photo shoot and so much more. It was a true joy for me to work on this project and share it with all of you. I am also so grateful for the amazing amount of support I have received from not only my close friends and family, but from all of YOU, my virtual friends.
So many of you have written in with your heartfelt testimonials about how much your families have enjoyed the recipes, and it always made my day to read your comments and emails. Now that the book is officially available at the major booksellers, such as Amazon, please take a moment to share your experiences and write a review on their site. So many of you have also shared awesome variations, tips and tricks; share those too. We’re all in this food allergy baking circle together, so the more we can help each other out in the kitchen, the better! Also, remember that if you order directly from my site, a larger portion of proceeds from every book sold will go to directly to Food Allergy Initiative Chicago, a not-for-profit that provides funding for food allergy research and education. I personally sign every book that is purchased through www.foodallergymama.com .
Thanks again for always supporting me and this book. I am truly grateful, and you can be sure I will keep developing and making more yummy recipes for all of our families to enjoy!

Congratulations! What an impressive accomplishment! I have made many of your recipes from your blog for my daughters (one with TN/PN/E/D allergies and one with none) and have received equally glowing raves from both. Thanks! I plan to buy copies of your book for my mother and in-laws so that they can make safe treats for the kids to enjoy.
I am so excited. I got my shipping confirmation yesterday. Ellen what an excellent idea to buy a couple of copies for my Mom and MIL. Thanks.
I have already ordered a book and got my email last night that it’s being shipped! I was so excited to see that email!! I’ve already tried several of your recipes that you’ve posted online and they’ve all turned out so wonderfully! My latest batch was the oatmeal cookies and it’s already become my family’s favorite! You have done such a wonderful thing for parents with food allergy children by giving them an way to be ‘a little more like everyone else’…and i thank you for that! Congratulations on your wonderful accomplishment!
Kelly-
Congratulations! What a great accomplishment! I am looking forward to reviewing your new cookbook. Thanks for all you to do! Keep Bakin’!

Time to get gushy!
Even though I’m a younger, crazy college student that only knows you because you entrusted me with watching your kids back in the day, I cannot even begin to tell you how proud I am! You worked so hard for these accomplishments, and you can tell just by looking at the people that responded how big of an impact you’ve made in the lives of so many families. Now these cute kids with allergies can enjoy the same treats that we all did growing up! You inspire me to do what I can to make a difference, and that is PRICELESS!
Good luck!
Kelly,
I’m so grateful to you for making this cookbook. It is so important for our kids to be able to enjoy yummy foods and be included in celebrations, and all your hard work is helping to make that happen. And because everything tastes SO GOOD, your treats can be shared with the non allergic without anyone being the wiser or complaining about the “special allergy birthday cake, cookie, cupcake etc…” I always found those comments so insensitive.
I have lots of allergy cookbooks, but the recipes have been hit & miss or require ingredients I don’t often have. Every one of your creations I’ve made has been perfect, and with the price of food and a busy life, your cookbook will be priceless. Thank you for your generosity, I can’t wait to buy it!

Kelly..
I fell in love with your recipes from the moment I tried the first one: blueberry muffins. I have tried many of the other recipes on your web site and they are all fantastic. Not one has failed and all of them came out fabulous and delicious. I mentioned in my previous comments that my family loves your pumpkin bread. It has become a staple in our household.
I have already ordered two copies of your book, one for myself, and the other for the daycare my little girl goes to. They love your recipes too! Unfortunately, I won’t receive the books until late October, as the book doesn’t come out in Canada until October 10. Anyway, I am such a believer in your recipes and I really appreciate all the hard work you’ve put into developing recipes that taste delicious.
I am a member of the Halifax Area Anaphylaxis Group in Nova Scotia, and in our last meeting I recommended your book to all the mothers there who told me that they were in desperate need for good recipes that are allergy friendly. I have also recommended your book and put a link to foodallergymama.com on our web site (I hope you don’t mind). In the latest post I included a brief review of your recipes and why I think they are incredible, especially noting the fact that your recipes have pictures! You are the first person I know of that actually posts high quality photos of allergy friendly recipes. ALL other allergy books I’ve seen have no pictures whatsoever. It always bothered me that allergy books have no pictures. It almost makes you feel as if the recipe is not good enough for a picture. Your recipes, however, not only taste good but look incredible and mouthwatering.
Thank you so much for all the wonderful recipes and thank you for supporting other parents and children who are living with life threatening allergies. You are a great person.
Really exciting! Can’t wait to get my copy. Congratulations on a job well done!

Congratulations!
My copy of your book came today and it is absolutely outstanding. The pictures of the recipes and your personal pictures are fantastic and make the book so special. Most allergy cookbooks don’t have any pictures but yours is full of gorgeous pictures. I can’t wait to try the new recipes like cinnamon raisin bread, oatmeal muffins, bran muffins and classic pound cake just to name a few. I am so excited. Again I cannot thank you enough. Your book is beautiful and I hope you have more ideas for another book soon.
We made the French Puff muffins this morning (and I blogged about it!) and they were delicious!
Thanks SOOOOO much to all of your for your amazing support!! I am thrilled you like the book as much as I have enjoyed working on it. Liz and Noha, the pictures were super important to me. I remember having a discussion with my publisher about the fact my biggest pet peeve about many of my food allergy cookbooks is that they lacked color and beauty. Just because we have to bake allergen free doesn’t mean we don’t have standards. I love good food, but I also love reading gorgeous cookbooks. Cookbooks are meant to be enjoyed as well as used as a reference tool. I am so excited that you all feel the same. It makes those three days I did of nonstop baking for the photo shoot worth it! It also really helped to have a fabulous photographer who was a true artist and brought the love out in the food.
Yay!!! It’s finally October and your book is finally out! Kelly, finding your blog was a God-send. Not only have you provided recipes for super yummy eats, you’ve given those of us with food allergic kids a forum where the emotional facet of food allergies is completely understood. I cannot wait to receive my copy, go through the recipes and see the photographs. Bravo!
Many thanks,
Rebecca
Thanks for taking the time to pull all of your wonderful recipes together in one spot! I was wondering – do you recommend using cooking spray with flour whenever you call for cooking spray in a recipe? It’s not crystal clear to me in the book.
Thanks again!
One other quick question… have you found cocoa powder that is made in a dedicated nut-free facility? thanks again!
BLH, I use Hersey’s Cocoa Powder, and I also use Crisco Baking Spray with Flour everywhere where I’ve noted in the book, e.g. spray pans, muffin tins, etc. Hope that helps!
I loved going through your book page by page. I cannot put into words how proud I am of you and your hard work and dedication! I have always said that you are the hardest working mom I know! You are an amazing person and I am honored to be called your sister! Congratulations!
Kelly – Just got my copy of your book – it’s beautiful! Congrats – what a great accomplishment and we can’t wait to eat our way through it!
Hi Kelly – I found your website while researching recipes for a milk and egg free dessert for my 7 year old recently, and was thrilled to see you had a cookbook coming out! My copy just arrived and it looks like the best one that I have ever seen for kids like mine! I’m just curious – is there an alternative to flour or a wheat-free version of flour – that people can use if their kids are allergic to egg, dairy, nuts AND wheat? I have a friend whose son has all of those allergies and she would love your cookbook!! Thanks.
Congratulations on your cookbook! I recently made your cranberry pie and chocolate cranberry cookies for our Thanksgiving celebrations. Both were a hit. I have had more people ask me for the recipe (non-allergic family members and friends) than any other pie, cookie or cake I have made! My husband told me he would order your cookbook for me for Christmas, and I cannot wait to get it!
In your posting about the pumpkin cake, you mentioned a recipe for pound cake…is that listed in your cookbook? I live in the South where poundcakes are a staple, and my husband and I have been so sad that our son cannot have one! I would be so thrilled to be able to make a pound cake that he can eat!
Thanks again from one food allergy mama to another!
Thanks soooo much Tami! I love those two recipes…absolutely perfect for the holidays. And so happy EVERYONE enjoyed them!! Great story….
