Walking for a cure; FAAN’s Chicago Food Allergy Walk

On Sunday, October 17th I’ll be in Chicago’s gorgeous Lincoln Park walking with hundreds of other food allergic families to raise money for a cure. Read more information about the event here .

I’ll also be at the event signing books, but apparently you’ll need to pre order copies and bring them to the walk. All proceeds to go FAAN. Or, if you have one at home, bring it! I’ll be happy to sign it as well.

Finally, if you’d like to join my Team Food Allergy Mama and walk with us (which is really just me and whatever child of mine doesn’t have an activity or game that day!) or to make a donation on our behalf, visit my team page here.

I also just want to give a HUGE THANK YOU, to all of YOU, my readers, who truly inspire me every day through your comments and emails. Your stories about your children and families often move me to tears, and I feel so fortunate to have gotten to know you, either personally or virtually. I love how we are all working together in ways big and small, to make food allergies a thing of the past. Thank you again for everything. XOXO

  • We plan to be there! My book is already signed but we’ll still make the effort to find you and say hello!

  • Wahoo! I just made a small donation and now Kelly has reachd her goal of $500! I am sure more $$ will keep coming in too.

Thanks for walking for the cure Kelly!

  • we just participated in the Boston walk last Sunday – a wonderful day where our kids got their faces painted, ran around choosing safe snacks that were available to try, had a walk through a state park on a beautifully warm fall day, and raised $$$ for the most important cause in this world – here’s to, someday SOON, the cure!!!

  • Thank you for letting us know about the walk- we just signed up as a family and are looking forward to it! (and thank you for all of your other informative posts, we’re so lucky to have found your site…)

  • No, thank YOU Kelly, for your tireless dedication. I just made some phone calls, and created a team as well! We’ll be walking that day for my daughter – mostly I am so excited to show her that she is not alone in her challenges – she comes home from school some days feeling like she is the only person in the world with food allergies. The day will be an inspiration to us all, and one I’m sure she won’t forget! Plus, I can’t wait to meet you and have you sign my book! Thanks again, Kelly.

  • Thank you SOOO much everyone!!! Nicole…you are so sweet! I sent you a thank you to your email but it kept getting bounced back to me! I am so grateful for your support, and truly appreciate your generosity!!

Tali and Kim…I LOVE this..so excited you participating!!! I can’t wait to hear all about your experiences…let me know! Thanks so much everyone!!!

  • So here is a goofy question: How would one go about getting something like this started in our city? I don’t believe there is anything around the MPLS/St. Paul area. I believe in this cause so very much and always appreciate the posts from Kelly and all the readers. This is our first time of ever having to worry about food allergies. My son is only 19 months old, and it is hard having to follow him around every where in public to make sure no one shoves a cookie at him (egg and peanut allergies). And I know it is only going to get worse. I feel like pinning a sign on him that reads “Don’t feed me”. Blessings to you all!
